Sharon Nannette “Shay” Hartzog, 64, passed away on Sunday May 31, 2026 in Weatherford.
Celebration of Life: 2pm Saturday, June 20th in Prince-Gray Chapel at Browning Funeral Home, Weatherford.
Shay was a light in the world and would want to be remembered for her cheery disposition. With that sentiment in mind, attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing in bright colors. “She wouldn’t want us celebrating her life in a stuffy suit, or fancy dress.”
Shay was born October 24, 1961 in Bogalusa, LA; daughter of Dudley Russell Hartzog and Ethel Alyce (Jones) Hartzog.
She worked for several years in the produce department at Kroger, Super Save, and Cash Saver. This was a job that she really had a passion for. After Cash Saver closed, she hung up her apron and found a spot that didn’t require quite as much “heavy lifting.” She started working at Heritage Cleaners in Hudson Oaks. The customers adored her, and she cherished them back. She often spoke fondly of her co-workers, Christina and Sonya, and the owners, James and Amy Marlowe.
Shay had a zest for life and a deep love for her family. She also loved animals, taking time to watch the wildlife at her home; which included deer, bunny rabbits, and birds. She didn’t much care for the skunk. She also loved to spoil her 5 pets, Lucy, Gemini, Gizmo, Johnny Cash, and Sophie with plenty of treats.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dudley Hartzog; twin sister, Karen “Kay” Farmer; brother, Russell “Rusty” Hartzog; niece, Stacy Bankhead; close friend, Ronnie Podsednik; and her beloved pets: Lady, Sylvester, Munchkin, and Skittles.
Survivors include her mother, Ethel Alyce Wilson (Alan); her only daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Dahn (Hughes); grandchildren, Jerry “Dylon” Satterfield, Tanner Harrison and Jasper Bond; Stepmother, Kathy Hartzog; stepsisters, Leigh Ann Godfrey (Randy), Vickie Broomfield (Mike), and Jennifer “Jenni” Barger (Shane); stepbrother, Deric Grills (Jessica); step grandmother, Violetta Noel; her best friend, Cindi Kirkpatrick; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
