Samuel Larry Beningo, affectionately known as Sam, passed away on August 5, 2026.

Sam was born on December 10, 1945, in Niagara Falls, New York, to Joseph and Anna Marie (Renda) Beningo. Sam was a devoted family man who leaves behind his beloved wife, Judy Hearne, and his sister, Gloria Daloise. He was a deeply loving father to his adopted children, Amanda Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, and Jasmyn Watkins, all of Weatherford, Texas. His legacy of love and family continues through his cherished great-grandson, Amias Amiel Watkins.

A proud veteran, Sam served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of E-5. Those who knew Sam will forever remember his vibrant spirit, his big heart, and his wonderful sense of humor. He was a diehard horse racing extraordinaire, and his family will forever cherish the familiar, joyful sound of him cheering the horses on from the other room as they raced around the track. Fiercely proud of his Italian heritage, Sam was famous for making the best homemade spaghetti and meatballs, a special dish he delighted in sharing with family and friends while bragging about his roots.

Above all, Sam was a true romantic who loved making those closest to him feel special. Even in the worst of times, he always had a smile and a comforting, kind word to offer. Known for being quite the comedian, Sam had a rare gift for bringing laughter into any room. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back just to bring a smile and a feeling of love to those he cared about. His humor, his unmatched generosity, and his deep love for his family will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
