Owen Peter “Kiwi” Raynel, 68, passed away on the afternoon of October 4, 2025 in Dallas.
A Celebration of Life is being planned at a later date at Parker County American Legion Post 163.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Owen's memory, to Wreaths Across America.
Owen was born January 18, 1957 in Tauranga, New Zealand; son of Fred Raynel and Alice (Louden) Raynel.
Owen proudly and bravely served his country in the United States Army.
Since 2005, he has been an active member of The American Legion, where he served in several capacities. Most recently as 2nd Vice Commander of Parker County Post 163. He was a patriot who loved America, but never forgot his New Zealand roots, nor his charming accent! He was a Legion Rider, an avid Texas 42 player, skilled at pool and darts, with a love for cooking, dancing and RUGBY! He never shied from smiling, laughing and teasing. He will be remembered as a twin to his sister, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a BROTHER to all of us.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Raynel; children, Naomi Jacobs (Brett), and Shaun Hardcastle, and Tyrel Raynel (Aroha); grandchildren, Ella Hardcastle, Matthias Buchanan, Ronan Raynel, Sophia Raynel, Eli Raynel; sisters, Helen Kyles, Maud Christiansen, Maxine Forsyth, Judy Stringfellow, Julia Critchley, Eileen Raynel-Haine; brother, Graham Raynel; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
We can't imagine him doing anything less than pulling up to Heaven's Gate on his rumbling motorcycle, brandishing that mischievous smile! Owen, you will be missed!
