How do we write the story of a man who was everything to everyone who knew him—a devoted father, a loving husband, a caring brother and uncle, and a friend you could always count on?

Joseph Edwin Donahue, known to all as Ed, was born on April 16, 1950, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Marilyn Jane Donahue and Jesse Alan Donahue. He passed away on March 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and kindness that will never be forgotten.

Ed was a truly amazing father to Heather and Joshua, and nothing brought him more pride than his family. He was a cherished “Papa Ed” to Aidan and Kaleb, who brought immense joy to his life. As a husband, he was deeply loyal and endlessly supportive to his beloved wife, Karen, standing beside her with love and strength through all of life’s moments.

Ed had a rare gift for making people feel valued and special simply by being in his presence. He was the kind of man who would help anyone, anytime, without hesitation. A hardworking and capable man, he seemed to know how to do or fix anything—there was never a need for a handyman when Ed was around. No matter the challenge, he always found a way.

He was also a devoted son who cared for his mother with love and dedication until her final days, reflecting the depth of his compassion and character.

Ed found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments. He loved reading, listening to music, and caring for his home and property. He took pride in his garden, growing fruits and vegetables, and especially loved planting roses and watching them bloom. Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting on his porch, enjoying the breeze and the peace around him.

He will be remembered for his humor, his strength, his kindness, and his deep love for his family and for Jesus.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn Jane and Jesse Alan Donahue, and his older brother, Jesse. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children, Heather (her husband Jr) and Joshua; his grandchildren, Aidan and Kaleb; and his brother, Rick, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Ed leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and quiet generosity that will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
