Jose Lara

Jose Lara, 67, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday June 25, 2026 at his home in Weatherford, just as he wished, surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation: 3-8pm Tuesday, June 30 in Prince-Gray Chapel at Browning Funeral Home,116 Wheeler St, Weatherford.

Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 in Prince-Gray Chapel at Browning Funeral Home, Weatherford.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Rd, Weatherford.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford.

Jose was born April 14, 1959 in Mexico; son of Adolfo Lara and Leonor Fuentes Lara.

He was a strong man of faith, with an unprecedented work ethic. He believed in giving his “best” in every endeavor that he undertook. This is a trait that he passed down to his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He also loved baseball, and merging the two, one of his favorite pass-times was watching his children and grandchildren play.

He is preceded in death by his father; and sister, Maria De’Lourdes Lara Fuentes.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Nazaria Lara; children, Sandra Lara, Brenda Lara, Leo Lara, Maria Lara (Juan Mascorro), Jose Lara (Katelyn), Rebecca Lara; grandchildren, Lorena Antonio, Lisett Antonio, Leslie Antonio, Nancy Lara-Becerra, Rachel Lara, Gustavo Cruz, Veronica Cruz, Lizbeth Cruz, Adrian Lara, Mariah Lara, Brayden Lara, Juan Mascorro, Jacob Mascorro, Isabelle Lara, and Elizabeth Lara; great-grandchildren, Santi Lara-Becerra, Maricela Olvera, and Lorenzo Olvera; mother Leonor Fuentes Lara; brothers, Atanasio Lara, Santos Lara, Alberto Lara, Monico Lara, Rodolfo Lara; sisters, Carmela Gamez, Maximina Lara Fuentes, and Angelica Maria Lara Fuentes; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
