Janice Christine (Simpson) Housley, 90, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at Baker’s Forge Memorial Cemetery in Demory, TN.
Christine was born March 11, 1936 in Pioneer; daughter of Azra Simpson and Estelle (Adkins) Simpson.
She met the love of her life, Anderson Haskle “Hack” Housley and they were married on March 15, 1957. They were blessed with two daughters Barbara Ann and Deborah Kay. “Hack” and “Crick” would spend over 52 happy years together, until his passing in 2020.
She worked for many years for White Stores Grocery Company, later becoming Food City, as a floral designer; where Hack also worked as a butcher.
Christine had an affinity for floral arranging, collectibles and antiques. After her retirement from Food City, she would turn that hobby into a second career. She was known in her later years for her shop, Unusual Corner, followed by her time at Clinton Highway Flea Market, Twin Gables Antique Mall, and Vintage Antiques.
For many years she was also a very active member of the Red Hat Society and a local bible study. She was a generous person with a servants heart, she never missed an opportunity to bless those in need.
Of all of her interests in life, her first love was her family. Her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Hack Housley; her daughters, Barbara Kidd and Debbie Hensley; son-in-law, Ralph Browning; brother, Glennis Ray Simpson; sister-in-law, Mary Agnes Simpson; and her step-mother, Ella Mae Simpson.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Wayne Kidd; grandchildren, Natalie Browning Conner and Andy Browning (Misty); grandson-in-law, Daniel Conner; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Finley, William, Jacob and Sophia; sister, Nila Fay Simpson; sisters-in-law, Juanita Peters, Betty McCoige, Kathy Stoffel, and Ann Housley; brother-in-law, Roma Housley (Sherry); numerous nieces and nephews; a host of extended family members, and a lifetime of friends.
