James Charlene (Hood) Ball

James Charlene (Hood) Ball, 95, passed away on Monday July 27, 2026 in Weatherford.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday August 3 in Prince-Gray Chapel at Browning Funeral Home, Weatherford.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 4 at First Baptist Church, Weatherford.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, Weatherford.

Charlene was born August 22, 1930 in Granbury ; daughter of James Hood and Eunice (Lee) Hood.

She worked for many years in Civil Service for Altus Air Force Base. After her retirement, she then would go on to work for several years as a substitute teacher.

She loved to play bridge, and was a member of several bridge groups. She passed that love onto others through teaching many  others how to play the game. She was a member of Seekers Connect Group, and Parker County Women’s and Newcomers Club. She was recognized on the cover of Hoopla magazine for her contributions to the community. In her honor, her bridge club is making donations, in Charlene’s honor, to a scholarship program, provided by Parker County Women’s and Newcomers Club, to help worthy students attend Weatherford College. While flowers are welcome and appreciated, for those who are inclined a donation to the scholarship fund, in Charlene’s memory, may also be considered.

Charlene was a strong woman of faith, and a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Next to her faith, her first love was her family, her husband and son were the light of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Roy John Ball.

Survivors include her son, David Ball; brother, Charlie Hood; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
