Carlos Franklin "Frank" Clements, Jr.

Carlos Franklin “Frank” Clements, Jr., 88, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 with family and friends at his side.

Frank was born November 7, 1936 in Brownwood, Texas; son of Carlos Franklin Clements, Sr. and Alice Ruth (Millican) Clements. His family moved to Fort Worth in the early 1940’s where he was raised.

He spent his early childhood working a paper route for the Fort Worth Star Telegram and continued this growing route until he entered high school and had saved enough money to purchase his first car. After attending Polytechnic High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in1957 and moved to Santa Ana, California. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before returning home to Fort Worth in 1962. He found employment with North Texas Steel Company where he remained until his retirement in 1993.

Frank was a principled, patriotic, hardworking, stern yet patient, wise and generous, man who wouldn’t hesitate to pull over in a rainstorm and assist a stranded motorist with changing a flat tire. He loved taking his family on biennial road trip vacation adventures around the country, singing silly songs all along the way. He could fix anything that was broken, enjoyed music, reading, television, and working on his beloved property. Favorite memories of him from his family and friends are those in which he could make you laugh hardily with his quick wit, or a simple facial expression. Above all, he treated all people with respect and taught his children through his conduct that all people are created equal and are to be treated as such.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sylvia Lyons Clements 1963-1988, his second wife, Carol Ann Kissinger Clements 1991-2007; and son, Paul Franklin Clements.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Wylie, and husband Joe, and Christy Tidwell, and husband Orval; grandchildren, Sarah Scaife, Abby Pine, and Faith Robertson; eight great-grandchildren; and one, great great-grandchild. Special thanks to Stacy Doyle and Ed McMasters for the years of devoted friendship and care, whom he loved dearly.
