Who Was Alan?

Alan was many things to many people, but above all, he was unforgettable.

He was charismatic and comical, always ready with a joke and a laugh. Even during some of the most difficult moments of his illness and hospital stays, Alan never lost his sense of humor. He would joke about himself, tease his nurses, and somehow find a way to make the people around him smile—even when he was hurting.

Alan was confident. He loved joking about being the best-looking sibling, and he carried that confidence into everything he did. When Alan set his mind to something, he worked toward it until he accomplished it. He once said he wanted to buy himself a big truck—and, true to his word, he did.

He was caring and supportive. Whenever Alan visited, he made it a point to check on every one of his siblings and make sure everyone was doing okay. He was not only a great brother, but a great friend. His friends became his brothers, and his siblings became his friends. Alan had a way of making people feel like family.

Alan was a warrior and a fighter. For seven months, he fought Clear Cell Sarcoma with a strength that inspired everyone around him. Through hospital stays, treatments, radiation, pain, setbacks, and uncertainty, he continued to fight. Even when his body was tired, he never gave up his humor or his determination. He fought until his very last breath.

He was a leader. Alan was never afraid to take the initiative, work toward his goals, and push himself to do better. At the same time, he knew how to enjoy life. He encouraged his friends and family to get together, have fun, and enjoy the moment. If there was a party, good food, and people he loved, Alan wanted to be there.

Alan was resilient and strong. From a young age, he faced obstacles that could have easily knocked him down. He survived being bitten by a dog and multiple car accidents, among other hardships. But Alan always found a way to get back on his feet, get back on track, and keep moving forward.

And then there was Alan’s no-filter personality.

Alan was straightforward. He said what he thought and told you the truth—not necessarily what you wanted to hear, but what he believed you needed to hear. He was, in the words of those who loved him, a little bit of a “loving asshole.” He could be blunt, stubborn, and unapologetically honest, but behind it was always love. If Alan cared about you, you knew it.

Alan was a beloved brother to Eva, Edith, and Marielly, and his brothers Moises and Ignacio. He was a father figure to many and a devoted father to Damian, Elijah, Melina, and especially his five-year-old daughter, Alaina, whom he loved and cared for dearly. Alan was a present and loving father who worked hard to make sure his children were safe, supported, and cared for. His love for Alaina was as steady as a guiding light, and the bond they shared was precious and deeply meaningful. He will always be a part of her life through the memories, love, and lessons he left behind. He was the cherished son of Ignacio Oropeza and Virginia Martinez.

Alan graduated from Weatherford High School in 2017. He spent many years working for Metro Irrigation and Landscape, where he built friendships and became known by those around him.

Outside of work and family, Alan knew how to enjoy life.

He loved country music, especially Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan. He also loved Mexican music, particularly Fuerza Regida. He enjoyed watching football and proudly supported the Dallas Cowboys—“We Dem Boyz!” He was also a fan of boxing and especially enjoyed watching Canelo Álvarez.

But perhaps what Alan loved most was simply being around people.

He loved hanging out with his friends, socializing, laughing, and making memories. And if that time together involved food, even better. Carne asada was always a favorite and a meal that could bring Alan to the table.

Above All Else, Alan Loved His Family.

He loved his family deeply and fiercely. He was a brother, a son, a father, a friend, a protector, a comedian, and a fighter.

Alan leaves behind countless memories, stories, jokes, arguments, laughs, and moments that will be carried in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

His life may have been far too short, but the impact he made in those 27 years was anything but small.

Alan fought until the very end. He never gave up.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
